What to Expect—and Why Group Works

Before starting an Intensive Outpatient Program, most people feel a mix of deep exhaustion and hesitation:

If that sounds like where you are right now, here is what actually changes when you step into the program:

Real support during the hours you need it most. For many, the hardest part of the day is the quiet window between afternoon and evening—coming home alone, feeling overwhelmed, and slipping right back into old behaviors. IOP changes that dynamic entirely.

The shift from isolation to true connection

An eating disorder thrives on secrecy and the feeling that no one understands. In group therapy, that wall comes down quickly. Sitting with people who understand means you don't have to justify your thoughts or hide your struggles. Hearing someone else articulate a feeling you thought only you had can reduce shame and show you what recovery looks like in real time.

Built around your actual life. You don't have to put your life on pause to recover. IOP is designed so you can continue working or attending school, stay connected to your family, and live your daily life. You practice new coping skills in the real world, then bring those experiences—the wins, awkward moments, and setbacks—back to group to process with clinician guidance and peer support.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you start. You just need a space that supports you right where you are.

A Strong Foundation, Built Around Your Unique Path

Recovery isn't about escaping real life or waiting for conditions to be perfect—it’s about learning how to stay grounded, supported, and steady right in the middle of it. True healing takes structure, consistency, and showing up for yourself, even when it feels hard.

Our role is to offer a safe, reliable framework to hold you as you do that work. While we offer groups six days a week to provide consistent support, your specific care plan is thoughtfully designed around your individual needs following your intake assessment.

Here is how we walk alongside you with both structure and heart:

  • Care That Honors Where You Are: We look closely at your unique story, your clinical needs, and your personal goals to shape a path that gives you the right level of support and healthy challenge.
  • Tools for Real Life: We don't try to remove life's everyday rhythms or stressors; instead, we teach you how to navigate them. You’ll practice new ways of coping within a structured, accountable routine while continuing to live your actual life.
  • A Journey That Grows With You: As you show up, practice new skills, and build confidence, your treatment plan evolves right along with your progress—guiding you toward lasting independence.

We bring the clinical structure, warmth, and unwavering support. You bring your commitment to show up. Together, we build a foundation for recovery that genuinely lasts.

Who it's for

Finding Your Space: Specialized IOP Tracks

Healing happens best when you feel completely safe, seen, and understood by the people sitting beside you. While every track shares our core therapeutic structure and evidence-based approach, we offer dedicated groups so you can process your recovery within a community that truly reflects your lived experience:

Adolescents: A dedicated space for young people to navigate the unique pressures of school, peer relationships, body changes, and identity—helping them build confidence and healthy coping tools during these transitional years of rapid change and self-discovery.

Women’s Track: A supportive circle designed for women to explore the complex intersections of food, body image, societal expectations, trauma, life transitions, and self-worth in a deeply compassionate environment.

Men’s Track: A targeted group that breaks down the stigma often surrounding men and eating disorders, offering a straightforward, practical space to process mental health, body pressures, and emotional expression among peers who understand.

Client testimonials

“I thought I'd feel exposed... instead, I finally felt safe.”

“I knew what I was doing wasn't working anymore, but the idea of group therapy terrified me. I didn't want to explain myself to strangers, and I couldn't pause my whole life—my job, my family, my responsibilities—just to go into treatment.”

“Before IOP, I used to dread going home after a long day. Being alone at night meant my mind would run wild, and I’d end up using eating disorder behaviors for hours just to cope. Once I started group, my whole day shifted. When things got hard during the day, I knew I didn't have to carry it alone all night. I actually looked forward to group. Having that safe space later in the day gave me somewhere to be—and for the first time, I stopped using behaviors during the exact hours I used to struggle the most.”

“After a few sessions, the group didn't feel like a room of strangers—it felt like a lifeline. I realized I didn't have to fix everything overnight. I just needed a place where I was supported when I needed it most.”
